Kew Baptist Church

INTERNS

Steph Bowers

Steph has been very involved at KBC since 2007 when she moved from Albury/Wodonga to study for a Bachelor in Arts Education at La Trobe University. She lived in our Student Residence for 18 months, and also fitted in some Biblical subjects at Tabor College at Ringwood North.

Appointed as an Intern in 2009, Steph is continuing to lead the Senior Youth Group, and is using her passion for speaking with people about Jesus to enhance the capacity of the NightChurch community to share the gospel story in ways that are relevant to today’s society. She is also very effective in getting alongside the female members of the NightChurch and the Student Residence communities to nurture and encourage them in the faith.

James Docking

James came from Wodonga to Melbourne to begin his tertiary studies in 2006. He was appointed as an intern in 2008, where he focuses on building relationships with young adults through sporting and other social interaction. He finds that people who are exploring the possibility of following Jesus are very open to discussing faith issues in settings such as the weekly basketball game held upstairs at the Kew Baptist Church Hall. His quiet, sensitive approach makes him a welcome guest at the Student Res.

He is often alert to pick up when people need someone to listen to them, especially the students in the Student Res and the young guys in NightChurch.

James is studying for a degree in business and politics at Swinburne Uni.

Andrew Hunter

After spending six months teaching English in Yemen in 2007, Andy began as an intern early in 2008, and uses his strong organisational and administrative skills to “keep the wheels turning”, providing needed support for the music and audio teams and the general running of NightChurch.

He is very intentional in befriending people who are new to the NightChurch community or who for some reason are “on the fringes”, encouraging them and sharing his faith story with them.

Andy is from Kyabram in Northern Victoria, and is studying international business at Swinburne Uni.

Andy has attended the preaching classes led by Rod Pell and Ken Manley, and is a keen student of Christian doctrine and theology. He is involved in leading and preaching at church services.
