KEW STUDENT RESIDENCE

Stephen and Michelle Duke

Stephen and Michelle are the Managers of the Kew Student Residence, having begun in that position in July 2008. They have two young daughters, Zoe and Ambrie. The family lives in a flat at the back of the Student Res and share most meals with the students. This means that they are available to the students, often 24 hours a day. They are able to help students settle into life in Melbourne, give wise counsel as needed, and share their own faith stories with them.

Both trained as school teachers, with Stephen being the sports coordinator and head of physical education, as well as implementing an alternate Year 9 program, at Covenant College near Geelong from 2004-2008. Michelle was also very involved in sport, having been a swim instructor and netball and tennis coach during her earlier teaching years. Then, until two little girls came along to take up her time, she taught a variety of subjects at Covenant College.

Throughout their adult lives they have been involved in church life in various rural centres, camps for young adults, sports programs, music activities and much more. This background has prepared them well for their role in the Student Res.
